چکیده

The effects of an adjacent fluid's viscosity and density on the characteristics of torsional stress waves transmitted in a waveguide with a circular cross section are studied theoretically and experimentally. Expressions for the torsional waves speed, dispersion relations, and attenuation are obtained as functions of the adjacent fluid's viscosity and density. The theoretical results are compared with experimental observations. It is demonstrated that a devices similar to the one described herein can be used as a rugged, real-time, onlines sensor for measuring the viscosity of a fluid with a known density. Such a sensor can measure the viscosity of fluids with a density viscosity product (ρfμ) greater than 100kg2/m4s to a precision of 1% or better Disciplines Engineering | Mechanical Engineering Comments Suggested Citation: Kim, Jin O. Torsional Waves in Prestressed Fiber Reinforced Medium Subjected to Magnetic Field

The propagation of torsional waves in a prestressed fiber-reinforced half-space under the effect of magnetic field and gravity has been discussed. The problem has been solved analytically using Whittaker function to obtain the exact solution frequency equations. Numerical results for stress, gravity and magnetic field are given and illustrated graphically. Comparisons are made with the results ...

Modeling and Analysis of Viscous Dissipation Phenomenon on Temperature Distribution in the Process of Injection Explosive Fluid

The explosive viscous liquid becomes inject to warhead by discharge system. The injection device is consisted of a piston to move down and leads the viscous fluid through the cylindrical pipe towards the end of the duct. Then the viscous fluid leads into a convergent path that will be injected to the warhead or other injection equipment. In this project, the path of viscous fluid flow is divide...

حل تحلیلی امواج سطحی تولید شده در اثر حرکت اجسام غوطه ور

Analytical analysis of a two-dimensional submerged body moving with a constant velocity in an inviscid incompressible fluid under gravity near a free surface is studied in this paper. This notion is one of the fundamental concepts in applied hydrodynamics. Experimental observations of water waves in large scale or laboratory observation in open channels is indicative of complex phenomenons taki...

Torsional Surface Wave Propagation in Anisotropic Layer Sandwiched Between Heterogeneous Half-Space

The present paper studies the possibility of propagation of torsional surface waves in an inhomogeneous anisotropic layer lying between two heterogeneous half-spaces (upper and lower half-space). Both the half-spaces are assumed to be under compressive initial stress. The study reveals that under the assumed conditions, a torsional surface wave propagates in the medium. The dispersion relation ...

Effect of Initial Stress on Propagation of Love Waves in an Anisotropic Porous Layer

In the present paper, effect of initial stresses on the propagation of Love waves has been investigated in a fluid saturated, anisotropic, porous layer lying in welded contact over a prestressed, non-homogeneous elastic half space. The dispersion equation of phase velocity has been derived. It has been found that the phase velocity of Love waves is considerably influenced by porosity and anisot...
